Hunter X Hunter Episode 1 Synopsis
As Mito sorts fish, the others start talking about her 12-year-old "nephew, Gon. Gon attempts to capture the giant "Master of the Swamp", a feat accomplished twenty years ago by Jin, Mito's cousin and Gon's father. Mito, who doesn't want Gon to take the Hunter Exam, puts out an improbable condition. Gon catches a fish and brings it to the harbor, surprising the townspeople and disappointing Mito.
On the eve of Gon's departure, Mito tries to convince Gon not to continue her exams and become like her father. do. Gon replied that he wanted to know why his father left his son in someone else's care. Mito says it's dangerous, but Gon insists. The next morning, Mito and his grandmother said goodbye to Gon.
Gon boards the ship and bids farewell to the residents of Whale Island who have gathered at the harbor to see him off. After he exclaims that he will be the best hunter, Gon is taunted by the ship's passengers, who also go to the hunter's test site. While watching the volunteers on board, he notices a crew member, Katso, who is being bullied by his comrades, and helps him. The captain exits the cabin and orders Katzo to hurry to work. Gon tells the captain that a storm is coming. When the captain asks how they know, he says seabirds flying overhead warn each other of violent storms. Gon to check with the sense of smell.
With the storm raging, almost all the students on board except Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio are seasick. Her captain calls her and asks her reason for taking her hunter exam. Gon quickly replies that she wants to know why her father became a hunter. Leorio and Kurapika refuse to reveal their identity. Before arriving at the exam venue, the captain promptly informs them that they are being hired to reduce the number of participants in the Hunter exam, and asks them to answer. A pass or fail decision will be made accordingly.
Kurapika reveals that he wants to become a blacklist hunter in order to catch the ghost squad that destroyed his clan Kurta. Leorio wonders why Kurapika has to take the exam for revenge. Leorio then explains that he wants money and the comforts and luxuries that come with it, such as free access to large properties and public facilities. Kurapika comments on his remarks, and Leorio is checked by Kurapika. Kurapika has already incorrectly called him Leorio-san several times. He insults Kurapika's clan as disrespectful.
Meanwhile, as the crew is trying to stabilize the ship, Katso is thrown and threatened with falling off the ship, causing Leorio to fight. and Kurapika watches in horror. Suddenly, Gon jumps out of the ship to catch Kazzo, and the other two quickly catch Gon's leg. The next day, Kazzo thanks them, and Leorio and Kurapika reconcile. I promise to take you to the port closest to the exam venue.
